MASSAGE: Nourishing the tissues, healing the body
Ayurveda offers many treatments that both reduce symptoms and treat the cause. It also recognises that sometimes we just need to be nourished. Oils nourish the muscles and remove toxins. Deep pressure relieves tension and long strokes calm the nervous system.
My exploration into the art of massage has progressed from the contemporary (Swedish, NMT) towards the traditional (Thai, Ayurvedic). I have found each style to represent profound insight and knowledge. I have been drawn towards an intuitive approach, fusing the wisdom and experience of Ayurveda with an inventive, contemporary inquisitiveness.
Drawing on my knowledge of the pulse, I begin to see the subtle expression of balance. Along with your understanding of what you need, the treatment is tailored, combining styles to suit each unique individual as they present themselves on the table.
This intuitive approach enhances the body's ability to rest and heal. Injuries benefit from increased blood flow and rehabilitation while the relaxation strengthens the immune system and brings a sense of calm to the mind.
THE SESSION: Intuitive, diagnostic
Each massage is priced according to duration, regardless of style or intensity. The price reflects the time that you are on the table receiving the massage, not the time taken to complete intake forms or to discuss your needs.

For those preferring deep pressure, long strokes and sustained pressure are used to relieve tension. The work is focussed through the fingers to release and separate tight muscles and congested fascia, allowing the energy to flow.
It takes around two hours for a complete deep pressure massage and it includes significant work on the back and shoulders and provides whole body nourishment. Pacifying pressure on the abdomen makes this massage ideal for those suffering from digestive complaints or menstrual discomfort while the continuous pressure can alleviate fibromyalgia or fibromyalgia-like pain.
Contraindications for deep pressure include swollen or painful joints, injuries to the skin, pregnancy, children under 18, emaciated people and lipoma sufferers.
For those in search of a therapeutic and calming treatment, oil is applied in a rhythmic motion to the entire body. The pressure is firm but not deep. This is an ideal massage for those looking unwind, relax and restore. A therapy where the external movement along the skin balances the internal movement of energy, calming and balancing.
The lighter pressure is beneficial for the blood and plasma. Depending on the pressure it may also benefit the muscle and adipose tissue. It is also effective at relieving the symptoms of PMS.
DISCOUNTS: Less cost, more therapy
I appreciate the value in word of mouth referrals and offer a generous reward program for those who spread the word.
For each of your referrals who receive a 60 minute massage with me, you collect £5 off your next massage. If they book a 90 minute massage, you collect £10 off your next massage. A referral who books a 120 minute massage will give you a £15 discount off your next massage. You can accumulate these and combine up to two discounts for each of your subsequent appointments.
To join the program all you need to do is have your referral write your name on the intake form (there's even a space for it). After the appointment I will email you to confirm the referral.
Please note the referrals must be new clients. The discount only applies to their first appointment and their appointment must be for a massage. Credits can not be used for consultations or exchanged for cash and must be used within two months from the date of the referral.
If you are a yoga teacher please speak to me about the discounts available for midweek massages and further discounts for student referrals.
